FAQ
What’s the purpose of this site?
This is my personal blog where I document my journey as a backend and DevOps engineer. It features technical deep dives, implementation notes, and the occasional personal post. Think of it as a mix of engineering journal and knowledge archive.
Why are you writing blogs?
Writing helps me retain and revisit what I've learned. It’s also a way to share insights, solve problems out loud, and occasionally laugh at how I used to approach things a few years ago.
Are you open to new opportunities?
Yes — I'm open to new opportunities and would be happy to hear more about your project or team needs. Feel free to reach out via hey@lakmal.org
What do you bring to the table?
With experience spanning both engineering and technical leadership, I bring a well-rounded skill set:
- System architecture and backend design
- DevOps automation and CI/CD pipeline engineering
- Infrastructure management (on-prem and cloud-native)
- Cost-optimized cloud planning
- Code quality through peer reviews and mentoring
- Delivery speed and pragmatic decision-making
I’m comfortable shifting between coding, planning, and leading — and I leverage AI tooling to streamline workflows and boost team productivity. If you need to ship fast without compromising on maintainability, I can help.
What does your development setup look like?
- Primary Machine: MacBook Air (M2)
- Display: LG 38” UltraWide
- Input Devices: Logitech MX Master 3, NuPhy Halo65 + various mechanical keyboards
- Secondary Machine: Dell XPS running Ubuntu
- Home Lab: Several Linux-based mini servers for DNS, self-hosted tools (e.g. password manager), and monitoring
- Workspace: Standing desk and a Steelcase ergonomic chair
What do you do when you’re not coding?
I travel frequently — one of the reasons I moved to Europe was to explore the continent with ease. I'm also into photography and enjoy shooting with my Sony A7III.
What languages do you speak?
English, Sinhala, and conversational German.
